New Process for Obtaining or Changing Your Hazardous Waste Identification Number (EPA ID) in Massachusetts
As of June 15, 2018, Massachusetts has moved to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) online application myRCRAid, which allows waste generators to apply for and obtain an ID electronically. The process is as follows:
- Register as an RCRAInfo user. MassDEP will approve your electronic signature.
- Login at RCRAInfo, access myRCRAid, and apply for an EPA ID by submitting a Site Identification Form electronically to MassDEP.
- The agency will review your application, either approving it or asking you to make corrections re-submit it.
- Once approved, MassDEP issues your EPA ID (generally within 7 days) through RCRAInfo. You are then authorized to proceed with regulated hazardous waste activities.
